This is Top Ten Mistakes That Most Outstanding Science

This is Top Ten Mistakes That Most Outstanding Science

There are some misunderstandings in the implementation of science in a variety of public truth that needs to be corrected. Here there are approximately 10 misconceptions about science that circulate in the community.

1. Water IS blue, not just because of the sky

Water IS blue, not just because of the sky

(Water is blue because not only the reflection of the sky) Many believe that the lakes and the ocean blue "only" because they reflect the blue sky.

Actually, the water looks blue because they are really blue. The water molecule absorbs light, and they absorb red frequencies more than the frequency of blue, so blue frequency appears on the surface. Its effect is small, so the blue color only becomes obvious when observing layers of water or in dense enough. In salt water or mineral springs, the color of dissolved minerals can be seen.
Sky-reflection does provide a role for the blue ocean, but only when the water is very calm, and only when the water was observed at a glancing angle less than approximately 10 degrees.

2. Electricity does NOT travel at the speed of light

Electricity does NOT travel at the speed of light

(Electrik / electricity is not moving at the speed of light) Many textbooks claim that the electricity (electrons) flow goes through the cable at the speed of light. The fact is, the electrical energy that flows quickly (which is still slower than the speed of light).
Electrons, which have a mass, can move at the speed of light by using the theory of relativity. Velocity of the charge in an electric current is very slow, about a few centimeters per hour. In places where electric currents can be seen, as in electrophoresis, slow movement of charge carriers can be viewed directly.

3. Seasons are NOT the same length

Seasons are NOT the same length

(Season is considered to have the same time period) As the Earth moves faster in its orbit as it approaches the sun, summer in the southern hemisphere / northern winter season, the earth is the shortest time, with summer in the north or south of the longest winter. However, the difference is only of a few days, while on Mars with an eccentric orbit, the difference was greater.

4. You WON’T get a cold just from low temperature

You WON’T get a cold just from low temperature

(You will not get the flu just because the cold air) has become a widespread public misconception that the common cold can be caused by cold weather. In reality, the common cold is caused by a virus and has nothing to do with the low temperature / cold.

5. Saturn is NOT the only planet with rings

Saturn is NOT the only planet with rings

(Saturn is not the only planet that has rings) Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune also have rings around it, although that was in Saturn's rings are the most obvious and easily seen.

6. Meteors are NOT hot when they land on Earth

Meteors are NOT hot when they land on Earth

(Meteor is not hot when it landed on earth) When the meteor landed on earth, meteors usually are not as hot as most of the meteor in Hollywood movies. It's usually warm. Meteor velocity sufficient to melt its outside layer, but the molten material quickly separated, and the interior of the meteor did not have time to heat up because rocks are poor conductors of heat.

7. Clouds do NOT form because of the air’s temperature

Clouds do NOT form because of the air’s temperature

(The cloud is not formed due to the influence of air temperature) is the knowledge that one that clouds form because cold air "holds" less water vapor than warm air. Air does not have the capacity to hold water vapor. Only the temperature of the water itself (and vicinity) which causes the humidity, the condensation process, and then the formation of clouds.

8. People DID know earth was not flat before Columbus

People DID know earth was not flat before Columbus

(People already knew the earth was not flat before Columbus) Some believe that Christopher Columbus had difficulty in receiving support for the people of Europe believe that the earth was flat. In fact, sailors and navigators of the time knew that the earth was round, but (true knowledge) do not agree with the estimate of Columbus on the distance to India. If America does not exist, and Columbus went on his journey into the real India, he will not be able to last a long time to achieve it.

9. The Great Wall of China is NOT particularly visible from space

The Great Wall of China is NOT particularly visible from space

(The Great Wall of China is visible from space) At the time in low orbit, the Great Wall of China can be seen from outer space but not as unique of an exaggeration. From low earth orbit, many artificial objects are visible on earth, not just the Great Wall of China. Highways, ships at sea, dams, railroads, cities, fields, and some buildings. As to the claim that the Great Wall of China is man-made object visible from the moon, Apollo astronauts have reported that they did not see any man-made objects from the moon.

10. There is NO “dark side” of the Moon

There is NO “dark side” of the Moon

(There is no dark side (which is always dark) of the moon) the Moon in orbit synchronous (synchronous orbit), this means, the moon takes exactly the same time to rotate once on its axis with the rotation of the earth. So far the moon has a side / rear / dark / outside, because it always gives the same surface to the earth when it rotates. When the moon is estimated to be between the Sun and Earth, It is time "day" on the far side / outside / back of the moon and the night for the side facing the earth. When the Earth between the Sun and the Moon, the much experienced the "night" and "daylight" to the side facing the Earth.
